    USENIX

  • ;login:, vol 30 no. 5, FreeBSD 5 SMPng.

    O'Reilly Network

I had a column with the O'Reilly Network called Big Scary Daemons for several years. (The name is an acronym for BSD.) It's part of their BSD DevCenter, and ran from 2000-2005.

    Fiction Publications

My short fiction has appeared in the following anthologies:

  • Women who Run with the Werewolves
  • Horror Library, vol. 2

My short story "Wednesday's Seagulls" is supposed to appear on short-story.me soon. I'll put an exact link when this happens.

I also used to write pen-and-paper RPGs. These predate the popularization of the Internet.

  • The Gatecrasher RPG, 2nd edition, 1996.
  • Believe it or Else!, the Gatecrasher 1st edition supplement, 1993. It even got an online review, and by some miracle that review is still available

The rights for a 3rd edition were sold to Domibia, which later merged with Seraphim Guard. No 3rd edition was ever produced. I believe that Seraphim Guard no longer intends to produce a 3rd edition. I appreciate that I still have Gatecrasher fans out there -- I had great fun with it myself -- but life goes on.

    Writing I haven't done

Every so often, I get a piece of email asking me if I am the Michael Lucas who wrote such-and-such. What follows is a list of books I have not written, even though my name appears on the cover. Everything I publish after 2002 gives my name as "Michael W. Lucas", to help avoid confusion.

  • Satan's Government
  • Aspects of Conrad's Literary Language
  • Understanding Business : Environments
  • The Western Alliance After Inf: Redefining U.S. Policy Toward Europe and the Soviet Union
  • Attachments for Prosthetic Dentistry: Introduction and Application
  • Handbook of the Acoustic Characteristics of Turbomachinery Cavities

The prosthetic dentistry thing sounds pretty cool, though.
